I thought I posted this and I was checking to see if there were any comments, but it’s hard to comment on a post that isn’t up yet. Sorry about that. The other two should be up soon. 🙂
Hello Again! For those of you wondering, yes, this is the start of my posts for AP Lit, but feel free to scroll down and explore my older, more embarrassing blog posts! 😉 I deleted my painfully boring Alchemist dialectical journals from sophomore year, but everything else remains.
My name is Riley James and I’m headed into my senior year. Anyone who knows me at all knows my interests include Jesus, Crossfit, and The 100. I also love reading, writing, grammar, the oxford comma and irony. (Not gonna lie, that pained me and I get a little nauseous every time I look at it.) Despite those passions, I am still notoriously awful at spelling. I want to become a middle school English teacher, and I plan on attending CCU, that is if I can finally get cracking on finishing my application. I’ve lived in Colorado my whole life, and I plan on staying because it is so pretty! My favorite book is All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven.
I always struggle to nail down a description of myself, but I’ll try my best. I have curly hair that is dirty blonde in hue and my eyes change from shades of green to grey to blue. I like to think I’m funny, but I am aware that my humor is an acquired taste that normally sparks one of two reactions: a nose exhale because it’s so darn stupid that it’s the teeniest tiniest bit funny, followed by some sort of “get out”, or full blown can’t-breathe-anymore laughter.
Some of the things I haven’t done but want to do include swimming in a lake, camping, and moving. Some of the things I have done and recommend doing are mostly travel related. I have recently learned that I am not a city girl. I have loved visiting all of the cities I have been to, but cities are not for me! I do enjoy beaches, though. Hawaii is amazing and is definitely one of my favorite places to be! It is just so weird to think about how I have distinct likes and dislikes now and I kind of know who I am. Especially in comparing this blog post to my first one. I’m almost an “adult”. Scary.
I’m excited for senior year! This will be my second AP class because I took AP Lang last year. Sorry that this was all over the place! I love writing, but I always have a hard time writing about myself and making it interesting.

It is always a pleasure to read your writing, Riley! You have such a distinct voice that comes through, especially in this blog! I’m always interested to read these first posts because everyone tends to be so creative with them. I too love The 100, and I’m always open to obsess with you during advisement. 😉

The irony joke was worth the omitted oxford comma, but it still pains me! I also really want to dig back in this blog to find your very first post… I think it would be worth the dig. I’m so excited to read your writing again!
