I decided to explain a little bit about CrossFit, so if I haven’t bored you with it yet, or you find it interesting keep on reading!
If you want an official description of CrossFit, go to:
https://www.crossfit.com/what-is-crossfit
Let’s start with some jargon. There are many more terms, but a few include:
- box- an affiliate CrossFit Gym.
- W.O.D.- abbreviated version for Workout Of the Day
- RX- did the workout as it was prescribed/ written
It’s actually a much longer list, but those are the most confusing and commonly used terms.
It’s not just lifting. It’s not just gymnastics. It’s not just cardio. It’s all three combined randomly because that’s how it is in life. “Constantly Varied, Functional Movement.” There are CrossFitters with bad form. There can be injuries. It’s not actually how the internet says it is if you go to the right place.
Another important part is understanding the Athletes. The person who wins the ultimate, worldwide CrossFit competition gets the title of “Fittest Man on Earth” or “Fittest Woman on Earth”. Sometimes, people defend their title really well. The most famous of them is Rich Froning Jr. because he won 4 years in a row!
Overall, in my opinion, the best part of CrossFit is the fact that it is always different, and the community is awesome. The community makes you make so many friends, and you bond with who you workout with. I have met many incredible athletes who also have phenomenal personalities. It’s crazy that I can’t imagine myself without it. Not only where I would be health wise, but not knowing the people I know because of CrossFit would drastically change my life. Not to mention how many lives CrossFit saves. If you love it, you’re crazy, but it’s amazing.

I never really knew what CrossFit was before this. I always just thought of it as workouts to the extreme and didn’t realize there is community behind it. I just see pictures online of the buff people lifting huge weights for Crossfit. Those people can look really scary! Anyways, it’s impressive what you do and I am glad I was enlightened on what CorssFit is really about.
