Pip experienced disappointment in Great Expectations when he saw Bernard’s Inn. I felt a similar disappointment when I was required to do a heavier weight in today’s workout. At first, my disappointment was fear. Pip also seemed somewhat fearful to proceed into the shabby buildings. Once the fear had passed, disappointment set in. Although I was disappointed, I got over it. I knew that in the end, doing the heavy weight would help me, much like how in the end, entering Bernard’s Inn will help Pip on his journey to become a gentleman.

Disappointment is important regardless of how small or big it is. All disappointments cause as to grow because they teach us how it is not a good idea to have ‘great expectations.’ Disappointments can also simply happen right before success. When there is a disappointment in one’s life right before a success, the success seems even better. In the end, disappointments are just a part of life. Disappointments never seem fun at the time either. Overall, if disappointments didn’t benefit us at all, they would not even happen.
